Based at the Merkister Hotel, John can organise all your fishing needs. From the complete novice keen to learn or the more experienced loch fisher, casting lessons, boat, rod and equipment hire can all be arranged. As John is a very competent tier of local trout patterns selecting the right fly should never be a problem.

Orkney is famed for having some of the finest trout fishing in Europe
it's fertile rich lochs are the ideal home to hard fighting wild brown
trout. Your trip will be based around the five mainland lochs of Harray,
Swannay, Boardhouse, Hundland and Stenness. There are many smaller waters
full of small beautifully marked brownies all within a short drive from
your base. Trips to the trophy waters in the North Isles can also be arranged.

for two home internationals in the last two decades which in itself is
an accolade to the fishing available
John is also a stalwart member of the Orkney Trout Fishing Association
a voluntary body dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of game
fishing throughout the Orkney Islands. His keen interest in competition
fishing has led him to represent the OTFA at national events. John encourages
his guests to join the association and for a small fee of £15.00
